Question #1:  How do you select the correct size for uniforms?

Answer #1:  As with regular clothing, each brand tends to run slightly different in size.  However, a greater difficulty lies in selecting martial arts clothing as martial arts clothing has a unique sizing system.  Martial arts clothing tends to be available in the following sizes: 000000,00000, (extremely rare infant & toddler sizes); 0000, (usually pre-k size);  000 (usually kindergarten aged); 00,0, 1, 2, (youth sizes); 3, 4, 5, 6,(adult sizes); and 7, 8 (big and tall).

Question #2:  What if the product that I purchased is really too large, or small? 

Answer #2:  Simply return the item according to the return policies on our Policies page site tab.

Question #3:  Some products do not have a perfect fit.  Some foot pads run too small for a child's feet, and the next size up is too large.  What size should I purchase?

Answer #3:   As martial arts school owners, we have learned that many manufacturers' product sizes are not made comparably.  In some brands there is a large difference between two sizes.  Here at Martial Arts Supplies 4 Less, we know how the sizing differs by brands.  Many times a manufacturer might have a great size gap between two of their own products in consecutive sizes (ie. from Child to Small).  However when comparing comparable products from two different manufacturers, one manufacturer might have a size that fills the gap between the other manufacturer's sizes. (ie. Macho Dyna Kick foot protectors come in child small, child medium, and child large, when Masterline Foam Kick foot protectors are only available in child small and child large).Therefore, if we are contacted describing a sizing issue, we will probably be able to suggest another brand that might carry a better fitting size. 

Question #4:  Which is the best fabric weight uniform to purchase?

Answer #4: Understanding the differences in fabric weight and who might typically wear the uniform are probably the best factors to consider in order to make a purchase decision. 

• For example, 6 Oz & 7 Oz. uniforms are typically light weight economy level uniforms worn by beginner and intermediate students.  The 6 Oz.  & 7 Oz. uniforms are often cotton/polyester blend uniforms.
•  8 Oz.uniforms are middle weight uniforms. These are often worn by instructors in hot climates.  The 8 Oz. uniform is often made from 100% cotton.
• 10 Oz. is a light heavy weight uniform.  This fabric weight is often worn by intermediate colored belts to lower black belt level students.  This weight is also popular with tournament competitors. 
• 12 Oz. is a heavy weight uniform.  This is often the uniform weight of black belt students, and instructors.  It is a weight that makes snapping sounds when performing hard style katas, forms, patterns, hyung, poomse.
• 14 Oz. is a super heavy weight uniform.  This weight is often preferred by instructors.  This weight is the same as denim.  This weight uniform often feels like canvas.

Question #5: How do martial arts sizes compare to regular clothing sizes?

Answer #5: Martial Arts uniform sizes are comparable to regular clothing sizes once you have translated the sizes. For example, a Size 000 uniform is a Child  XXS, and a Size 00 uniform is a Child Size Extra Small, a Size 0 uniform is a Child Small, a Size 1 is a Child Medium, a Size 2 is a Child Large,  a Size 3 is an Adult Small, a Size 4 is an Adult Medium, a Size 5 is an Adult Large, a Size 6 is an Adult Extra Large, a Size 7 is an Adult XX-Large, a Size 8 is an Adult 3X-L, a Size 9 is an 4XL, a Size 10 is an 5XL, a Size 11 is a 6XL, and a Size 12 is a 7XL.
